  • Brazil Peaberry

Tasting Notes: Vanilla Bean & Unsweetened Chocolate

    Roast Level: Medium

    • Highlighting notes of unsweetened chocolate, hints of vanilla bean, and a mild nuttiness, this Brazilian peaberry coffee unfolds wonderfully on the palate, with a distinct sweetness that leads to a smooth and complex finish.

From the Carmo de Minas region in Southeast Brazil, this coffee is grown in lower elevations of around 3,000 feet. As peaberries occur naturally in 5% of coffee grown, it is a labor of love to separate and showcase this elegant offering.

If you want nutty and savory, this is it!

This coffee takes me back to the internship I did at Itajubá, MG, Brazil. I used to go to a cantina every morning to purchase black coffee and pão de queijo. After my internship, I reached out to my cousin who works in the coffee business in Brazil, asking if he could send me a nutty coffee with a nice punch for my breakfast routine. Circa 2010, I used a French press. That coffee was spectacular. After it finished, I was truly left with no options.

Brazil Peaberry takes me back to those days, very nostalgic. The coffee shape is very interesting, extremely cute and reminds me of little green mung bean pearls. Extremely nutty and savory, or salty as I like to call it. A tremendous contrast to the very sweet dark Sumatra. Excellent pairing with both savory and sweet dishes. Really reaching to dethrone black tea in this regard. Highly recommended.
